How it works
- A two-level positive airway pressure mode that supports spontaneous breaths and automatically adjusts the pressure within set limits.
- Every breath is started and ended spontaneously by the patient.
- EPAP is applied according to the set Minimum Expiratory Pressure value.
- IPAP is applied so as not to exceed the set Maximum Inspiratory Pressure value.
- The device watches for apnea, hypopnea and snoring events and changes pressure according to its algorithm.
- The set Pressure Support value determines the support during inspiration — the difference between IPAP and EPAP.
- No mandatory breaths are delivered by the device.
Physiological basis
While maintaining two-level pressure support, it automatically adjusts the pressures according to upper-airway events. It aims to provide both obstruction control and ventilatory support.
