How it works
- A time-controlled two-level positive airway pressure mode that delivers breaths to a set respiratory rate and inspiratory time.
- It does not support the patient’s spontaneous effort.
- The breathing cycle is generated by the device according to the set rate and inspiratory time.
- IPAP is applied during inspiration and EPAP during expiration.
- When Assist Mode is enabled, the device detects the patient’s spontaneous inspiratory effort and the rate is set by the patient; the spontaneous expiratory effort does not affect the set inspiratory time.
Physiological basis
Ventilation is provided entirely under time control. A minimum ventilation is targeted through the set rate and inspiratory time.

Inspiratory Pressure (IPAP)
Pressure level applied during inhalation.
Expiratory Pressure (EPAP)
Pressure level applied during exhalation.
Inspiration Slope
Sets how quickly pressure rises to the inspiratory pressure.
Expiration Slope
Sets how quickly pressure transitions to the expiratory pressure.
Frequency
Number of breaths per minute.
Inspiration Time
Duration of the inspiratory phase.
Assist Mode
Enables or disables detection of patient-triggered breaths.
Sigh
Applies 1.5× the inspiratory pressure once every 20 breaths.
